Learn To Sail

Your Bareboat charter fee includes a 4hour brief and will cover the area of operation, rules and regulations of operating in a Marine Park, the operation of your vessel, personal safety and safety equipment onboard. This is followed by, on the water anchoring procedures and vessel handling. On sailing vessels, reefing and sail handling is covered.

If you are a little rusty on your boat handling skills and require more time spent with your briefer this will be charged at an hourly rate. $50 per hour or you can pre arrange a sail guide for the duration of the day (1/2day $200). After your brief you will start your charter with the sail guide on board where they will provide tuition in the areas you require then finishing at one of the islands such at Day Dream where the sail guide will catch a ferry back to the main land leaving you to carry on to your first nights destination.

Now available Prepare to Charter Course held on board a modern Beneteau 411 yacht out of Abel Point Marina. If you have a day to spare before your charter this pre charter course is ideal for brushing up rusty skills, getting your crew to work as a team and regaining confidence in vessel handling. The course is designed to help you get the best out of your holiday, concentrating on the skills the charter companies expect you to have before they hand over a their boat to play with.Cost $325 per person (Minimum 2 People).

Charter Yachts Australia would be happy to offer a generous 10% discount on cruises of 7 or more nights, to any one who has completed a Competent Crew Course or Inshore Skippers Course with any recognized Sailing School in the last 12 months.

If you wish to include sail training in your holiday, we can arrange for your group to have a sailing instructor onboard. Your charter group members may also choose to acquire their Introduction to Yachting this requires three days' training with your instructor in attendance
