Hi to all the Staff at Charter Yachts Australia
I would firstly like to thank the friendly staff of CYA. From the first phone call staff were so friendly and helpful. I had so many questions for Annie and Lisa and they never tired of questions they probably hear every day. We were a group of 8 celebrating two 60th birthdays.
The catamaran, Karma Kat, was everything we had hoped it would be and was so spacious for our big group. So comfortable! The cockpit was exceptional, plenty of fridge and freezer space. Our briefer, Peter, couldn't believe the amount of provisions we brought on board. But it all fitted and it was only on the final day that we found another locker that could have easily held another two cartons of beer. The weather was kind and we sailed to Hook Is. Border Is. Whitsunday Is. Lindeman Is. Hamilton Is. (to refill our water tanks) then back to Hook, Hayman and sadly our last night spent in Stonehaven.
A great find was a breakfast stop on Hook Is. at Mackeral Bay. The coral and fish here were exceptional and we were the only ones there to enjoy it. We were very grateful for the stinger suits, even though we all didn't want to wear them, they acted as extra flotation and kept us warm so that we could spend more time in the water snorkelling. Our whole group enjoyed the charter and talked of another trip only longer next time!!
What a "Sensational Holiday" we all had as part of the "Arcus" group (aka The Gilligan's Island Crew") in October this year. Armed with all the knowledge given in our brief we set sail & didn't get shipwrecked. We all had an early morning giggle listening to the radio each day and also what our head chef was going to prepare for that nights gourmet meal. We have all raved about the holiday and particularly how lovely & spacious the "SS Reflections" was to everyone we know back here in Perth. We will all be back again and could not fault our wonderful, fun filled boatie adventure in gorgeous Queensland.
From the entire "Gilligan Crew".
The 6 of us had one of the most wonderful experiences of our collective lives. The Whitsundays are staggering & really indescribable. The boat was great and the CYA staff (we dealt with Lisa, Brandan & Paddy) were just fantastic.
I really cannot describe how moving and terrific it was. Thank you so much. We were 3 Canadians, a Kiwi & 3 Aussies (my son is a dually).
Mark & Nicky Congdon
We would very much like to thank the owners and staff of Charter Yachts Australia for the help in putting together our boating holiday.
This wasn't our first charter boat experience at the Whitsundays but it was definitely our best. I can't honestly ever remember dealing with a happier group off people anywhere in the world, from start to finish the staff and owners looked after us like royalty.
We would highly recommend to anyone that's looking to sail or cruise the Whitsundays that you contact the guys at Charter Yachts Australia
Wayne & Rikki Gavalyas
My wife and I just recently spent a week sailing the Whitsunday's and chartered a boat through Charter Yachts Australia. We were both very impressed with the company. From start to finish we were treated in a friendly and professional manner. The boat that we chartered was in excellent condition and very well presented. The briefing that we received was thorough and gave us a lot of valuable information.
We will definitely be recommending Charter Yachts Australia to our friends and to anyone who may be interested in a Whitsunday sailing holiday. Our sincere thanks to everyone at Charter Yachts Australia for giving us one of the best holidays that we have ever experienced.
Another great trip with CYA, our second with your team. Thanks again guys. Enjoyed by all.
A group of 6 of us recently used the services of Charter Yachts Australia for our sailing adventure on the beautiful Vela Perfecta. We had such a smooth booking process thanks to Emma, and all the staff were so helpful from the briefer to Sam and Ben who guided us in from our adventure.
We had some pretty rugged weather and the Vela handled the conditions with ease. We were a little embarrassed with all the provisions (liquid) we bought on board but happy to say we came in dry!!!
Would highly recommend Charter Yachts Australia and with all their pleasant, helpful staff - you’re sure to have a great experience
Thanks again to everyone.
Chris & Liz Harvey
What A great trip.
The weather was superb and the staff of charter yachts were just fantastic at making our trip a memorable one.
Right from the first booking enquiry to the day we left for home the owners and staff of Charter Yachts Australia made it just so easy to relax and have a trip of a lifetime.
Thank you Annie, John, & all the staff for allowing us to share a little part of your world.

Wonderful 5 days sailing the Whitsundays. The weather was kind, with light breezes each day, and dropped out at night.
Manuel & Family
What a wonderful experience: The Whitsundays are breathtaking and a must-see for any sailor (or not!).
The whole booking process, greeting on arrival, briefing, support has been outstanding. Every occasion was handled very professionally, the staff always eager to help with bookings, recommendations, etc.
The boat was extremely clean and ready to go, with all the needed gear on board.
"Yaminda" October 2017
Good afternoon Annie and the CYA Crew,
Well we have been back in 'Kansas' for a week now returning to the normality of our lives that dominate 50 of the 52 weeks each year!
Like Dorothy, for 2 weeks each year, we click our heels and Yaminda transports us away to a special place, far far away from the daily norm. They call it the Whitsundays. An interesting name that may be more accurately termed the 'Foreversundays'!
It remains a place where time is meaningless and simply unimportant other than 8.25am and 4.05pm for the scheds. It is a place where the soothing warmth of the sun re-energises the spirit, the sea breeze wafts away the troubles of the norm and the hypnotic azure blue waters swirl in front your eyes as you drink the serenity and beauty of Chance Bay or Chalkies Beach. Why would we be anywhere else in the world? It is just perfection and whilst there are many beautiful places in the world, this one is at home and you cant beat that.
We again laughed, sang, swam, snorkelled, sailed and fished and may even of had a glass of wine or two (or three or four.........oh who is counting we were on holiday!).
We visited our favourite places that include Chance Bay and of course Chalkies where 12 months ago, Tim dropped to one knee and proposed to Lisa. This time they triumphantly returned to Chalkies as a married couple, in love and as soul mates. Tim really does love his 'cheese and crackers'! It was marvellous to share their honeymoon and whilst some may think this odd, we couldn't think of a better way to spend time in the 'Foreversundays'.
We visited Lindeman to see if there has been any progress and were treated to a spectacular lighting storm in the evening. The rain came down and we sat and marvelled at natures show. We have since renamed Plantation Bay to Storm Bay as that is the second time that a storm has hit when we have been down there.
We have also been honing our fishing techniques over the past 5 years and this year we were rewarded with two particularly fantastic fish. Tim hooked up on a magnificent GT and I had the fight of my life with a Spanish Mackerel who tried to remove my left arm by pulling it out of my shoulder. I was exhausted!
But all to soon our time was up and we headed for Pioneer rock. Leaving Chalkies at 6.30am we wanted plenty of time to be back by 1pm. However, the wind gods were with us and a magnificent 15 to 20 knot South Easter had our sails full and slicing through the waves and across the passage at a steady 8 knots. Needless to say we made good time and I think upset the order of arrivals back at the Marina. Sorry John!
We decided to 'transition' from Airlie time to normal time by staying in town for our last night. Annie recommended the Coral Sea resort and it exceeded our expectations! Just a beautiful place, immaculately maintained and great staff. Will definitely go back.
Anway, I have rambled long enough so thankyou once again CYA for enabling our adventure to 'Oz'. We have many wonderful photographs (some are attached), fabulous memories and another experience to feast on for another 50 weeks!
Our very best wishes and many thanks and hugs to the CYA crew and of course the beautiful Yaminda.

"Dolce Vita" September 2017
Hi CYA Team
Just letting you know that post-Holiday depression has set in and we can’t help but wish we were still sailing up there!
Our mornings and afternoons don’t seem the same without Kats radio scheds. You guys were all such a pleasure to deal with and your ears must be burning as we recommend your service to our friends.
Thank you all for your support. A special thanks to Ed. He was awesome! Thanks to Patty for loaning me his blue guitar, that was especially generous.
Keep smiling and shining. Hopefully we will see you all again in the very near future!
Warm regards, Connie, Peter and Adam Leander
An absolutely brilliant week sailing in the beautiful Whitsunday Islands.
The yacht was well maintained and the staff extremely helpful and friendly. We were delighted with the standard of items available on board for our use during the charter period.
We took a gamble chartering for a week in the "Low" season, but it paid off handsomely with only a 10 minute squall to contend with, otherwise it was a week full of fresh breezes and clear skies - we will most certainly be back !!
We planned this trip for quite a long time, and we glad we did not postponed it again.
Out of 8 people we left with 3 members of my family, so we went just 3 of us with no experience in yachting. This trip was unforgettable, thanks to all members of CYA and specially to Peter our instructor, whom we took for full day to learn how to sail.
We did round trip Hook is, Whitsunday and Hamilton Islands, weather was perfect with little rain overnight. The boat was in good conditions and with excellent handling and right size for one family. we would love to come back to Whitsunday Island and visit our favourite spots.
Thank you team CYA
Thank you everyone at Charter Yachts Australia for your great services, for offering and helping us have a dream sailing holidays in the Whitsundays.
We had another wonderful week with our 2 grown up sons & 1 girlfriend on the Lightwave 38 'Mischief' in early August.
This was our 3rd Charter with Charter Yachts Australia & would highly recommend them to anyone wishing to a bareboat charter around the Whitsundays. The Lightwave catamaran is so easy to sail & very comfortable to live on & the provisioning was excellent as usual.
We will be back again to experience the tranquility of the Whitsundays. Thanks to all the staff at CYA for making our trips so memorable.
We have just experienced the best holiday of our lifetime on the good ship "Reflections". Everything was perfect from the minute we arrived with all the fantastic crew at Charter Yachts Australia making us feel entirely welcome.
Thanks to Wendy for a wonderful brief which certainly made us girls feel at ease with everything our husbands had to do. Saw it all - whales, turtles, a dugong in Turtle Bay and fish galore. Needless to say the weather Gods were with us with temperate balmy days, glorious sunsets surrounded by good friends in one of the most spectacular places on earth. We will be back and sure to tell all, that days with Charter Yachts Australia just keep getting better.
I have told all of our friends down here in Port Lincoln that they need to get lives and have a real holiday away from the cold..so stand by for their calls.
Col & Viv
After two years we arrived back in Airlie Beach for another adventure.Crew this time daughter, son in-law and two grand children 14 and 12 years old.We had waited till the girls were old enough to appreciate the experience. That they did. They swam with turtles, millions of fish small and large, coral both soft and hard. Some of the sponge coral in Tongue Bay is as good as it gets.
At Blue Pearl Bay off Hayman Island ("Oscar" big rass fish) constantly swam in front of the kids waiting to be photographed Another first this trip , sitting quietly enjoying a glass of wine watching the sun set after another day in paradise right beside the boat a dugong surfaced and just swam silently by. (if a dugong surfacing and exhaling in preparation for the next breath can be regarded as quiet).
Viv and I have chartered in the Whitsundays for the past 10 years always bringing new people to enjoy our experience, and never have any gone away disappointed. Annie and John (Charter Yachts Aust owners) have become great friends over the years and have assembled a fabulous team of experienced and caring people you should call CHARTER YACHTS AUSTRALIA staff but they are more like special people dedicated to ensuring anyone that comes to the Whitsundays takes part in a great experience & takes away unforgettable memories. The teams attention to detail is evident in all that you see. The boats are maintained spot on, when you return you are asked if their was any problem with the boat or the gear.
If there was I'll bet it is fixed the next day .To Annie, John and all the great people at Charter Yachts Australia thank you for another unforgettable experience sailing in the greatest play ground in Australia. ( Some say there IS better but this is AUSTRALIA .
It's ours so why not enjoy it. See ya out there sometime.
Reflections is an awesome yacht. Very comfortable and a breeze to sail. My wife and friends have been travelling with Charter Yacht Australia four years in a row, again it was fantastic.
Regardless of a couple of days 40knot winds the weather turned on some glorious days of sun shine, however the weather, it's a trip of a lifetime. Rain does NOT ruin the experience.
We managed to catch a 8kg queen fish, ocean trout and many more fabulous dinners. Close friends even found time to get engaged, a very memorable trip.
Each year is always different and each year we leave wanting to stay.
This year we managed a 11 day and nights on the water and will be back next year to do it all again. Thanks CYA.
From booking to the debrief the crew at Charter Yachts Australia were fantastic.
The boat looked better than it did in the pictures , Wendy was awesome at insuring we were fully equipped both physically and mentally for stress free week. from dice in the chess set to the oyster shucker in the top drawer it seemed you'd thought of everything. We loved our boat and had thoughts of taking her from you forever and sailing to Tonga. Your suggestion for New years was fantastic. and we felt safe under your supervision but very much on our own adventure.
It was truely an amazing experience. We had some different personalities types on the boat but all have rated it the best holiday ever, thanks for my beer cooler we will definitely be back.
You guys rock!
What a fantastic experience through a great company on a superb sailing catamaran! I cannot recommend this enough to anyone toying with the idea, even if all your crew are inexperienced landlubbers!
The yacht Yaminda was laid out so in such a clever way that she could be very easily sailed single handedly including reefing the main, jibing and even anchoring. The actual layout of the cat meant that we had a usable aft deck of more than 150 square feet which was great for the kids, wonderful for cocktail hour and overcame the normal problem with yachts of tripping over each other in limited space. I was really impressed!
In terms of the Charter Yachts Australia as a company to deal with, I have had a very positive experience and can say that they genuinely make every possible effort to provide the best service they can and in this regard they are way above their european competitors in the med. Well done guys!
If you are reading this and are based in the UK, I would be happy to chat with you on the phone about our experience and the very few extra things that in hindsight we would do differently. In a nutshell, my advice will be to go ahead and book as your family will absolutely love this!
Thanks Charter Yachts Australia for a great holiday.
Hello and Thank you to the staff at CYA !
We had an absolute ball on Reflections (Lightwave 45), I have done a lot of sailing and this was my third time chartering a sailing cat in the Whitsundays is a very well appointed boat and well set up for charter I don't think I have seen that much Fridge/Freezer space on another boat ample for 8 peoples grog and food.
Sailing Reflections is a pleasure, it handles very well and is easy to set sail even with a inexperienced crew (I had two Gilligan's)
We had a theme night aboard the theme was Gilligan's island it was a lot of fun I have attached some photos and some whale photos taken on one of the encounters we had with Whales.
"This is a must do if you get the chance!"
We chartered our yacht from Charter Yachts Australia in Airlie Beach, they are a friendly bunch of guys who are keen for you to have a fantastic time aswell as being safe. They took us through a safety briefing and over the yacht.
We took out a 40' Catalina called "Satori" - very roomy down below and a real comfortable boat for the 2 of us to sail albeit a little large for our needs but that made it that much more comfortable.
Hi all at Charter Yachts Australia,
I know it has taken some time to send you a testimonial but better late than never!
In May this year we had a wonderful 7 days aboard the 'Orsum', your beautiful 44 foot power catamaran. The 'Orsum' was beautifully appointed and very comfortable. It exceeded our expectations. Even with six people on board, there was still plenty of room to slip away for some quiet reading. The weather was perfect and very welcomed coming up from the iciness of Canberra.
The start to our adventure, the tutorial, was fun. We were given loads of information and felt well prepared especially with the continued support available from your staff throughout the holiday.
At first I thought this type of vacation would be too laid back with not enough variety of things to do. How wrong I was. Everyday was a new adventure with planing our course for the day, fishing, snorkelling and trekking. We didn't even go near the resort islands as we had plenty of activities to do.
The week was full of magical memories of the stunning Whitehaven Beach, turtles, dolphins and colourful sea life.
Being back in reality has caused me to daydream regularly about the tropical paradise of the Whitsunday Islands. I would not hesitate to recommend a Charter Yachts Australia cruise to anyone and look forward to our next adventure with you.
Tom & Barbara Dwyer
We had the pleasure of joining Arjan from BVI Yacht Charters on a week cruise in the Whitsundays on the new 44 Lightwave, a fantastic catamaran. Having sailed often in the BVIs, the Whitsundays seemed right at home. Islands were close enough that you could enjoy a different one each day or return to one you previously enjoyed. What breathtaking scenery above and below the water.
The Coral and sea life were amazing.
Each island had its own unique ambience whether it be hiking, snorkeling or perusing the shops in the resorts like Hamilton Island where we had a wallaby come sit beside us on the beach. We thank John and Annie for a great time. Everything from chartering to provisioning was simple.
We will return.
Thanks for a memorable time.
Olly & Linda
We could not speak highly enough of CYA. The boats, the staff, the location... everything led to an absolutely fantastic holiday.
Nothing was too much trouble for Lisa, and she put up with my constant barrage of questions without the slightest hint of frustration!! The boats were immaculate, well maintained and the brief before we left marina answered any questions we had.
We are coming back next year, and will recommend CYA to one and all.
We chartered “Reflections” from 4th – 14th November 2012. We had such an awesome time and have decided that if someone was to go up to the Whitsundays, why would you do it any other way? We got to see all the top “tourist” spots and then all the spots that you wouldn’t get to see if you were staying on an island. In addition, you got to stay for as long as you want and not have to get back onto the boat to go back to your resort. We stopped over at Daydream Island half way through the trip, and honestly, we were unanimous that we couldn’t wait to get back on the boat again.
There were 8 adults in our party, and Reflections was easily big enough for all of us. We each got a nice sized little cabin and ensuite. The central area was really good sized and was unique in that it had both an outdoors and indoors area that was essentially one room as the door opened up completely. We never actually closed that door. By the end of the charter we were all commenting on the fact that out of all the catamarans that we had seen (and there are a few out there), we were glad that we were on Reflections as the entertaining area was the best by some margin. In addition, with the 2 fridges and freezers and a nice little pantry, we were able to get the food for 8 adults for 10 nights all on board and stowed. The large water tanks also meant that we didn’t have to watch our water usage quite as carefully as we would have otherwise.
The whole experience was extremely positive. The booking procedure and organising everything was so easy. The ladies in the office always got back to my emails quickly and were very helpful (thanks in particular to Lisa who put up with everything). Even when we stopped in to say hi they were the same. Our briefing and debriefing was very thorough and helpful and Peter was very friendly and just helped make it a good start and end to our holiday. The catamaran was extremely well fitted out. We were actually really surprised about how nice everything was and obviously a lot of care and attention is put in to keeping the boat in good condition and well maintained. We did not want for a single thing. Everything from the games on the boat, to the cutlery and crockery to the condition of the sails / ropes and everything else was top notch.
All in all it really made it one of the best holidays we have had, and my wife and I are definitely going to be doing it again once our boys grow up and we can do it with them. We cannot recommend it highly enough. Thank you Charter Yachts Australia for an awesome time.
It was a holiday that dreams are made off, we all had such a fantastic time. The Karma Kat was very comfortable, great galley and bbq, where we cooked up some sumptuous, beautiful meals. There was plenty of room for all our drinks in the 2 fridges and 1 big under the seat fridge. Beds were comfy, and so was the trampolines where two of us layed one night stargazing at the trillions of stars of the Whitsunday sky.
We motored over to Hamilton Island for Melbourne Cup day, where we had a great time, putting on a few bets and swimming in the resort pool. We even managed to get the sails up three times, thanks to the expert training from Pete before we left. The guys were beside themselves with excitement, as they had never sailed before. We also visited Chalkies and Stonehaven where we experienced some wonderful snorkelling. Some of us had never snorkelled before, and it was so exciting and beautiful. One couple even were lucky enough to swim behind a turtle for quite a distance. We also anchored at Whitehaven one night which was so beautiful and crystal clear. We also stopped at Daydream Island and had a swim in the resort pool there.
We had so much fun putting on our stinger suits also and never laughed so much at how ridiculous we looked.
Memories to cherish forever of the beautiful Whitsundays, great friends and the Karma Kat.
Thankyou to all the fantastic staff at Charter Yatchs Australia, your service was exceptional, right from our first enquiry to our last day.
THANKYOU SO MUCH
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A FANTASTIC CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR
